Genital warts can be a big inconvenience. Not only does it itch and burns, it can also make you feel uncomfortable about your own body. In about 10-to 20% de warts go away by themselves. If this is not the case there are many ways to get rid of them with a little help. The cures that are commonly used don’t have a 100% success rate but in most cases the warts will eventually disappear.

Physical Ablation treatment is the treatment that removes the warts physically. These techniques destroy the tissue of the warts.

The Physical Ablation treatment uses a couple of techniques to get rid of the unwanted guests.

Cryotherapy
This technique uses nitrogen to freeze the warts . Usually it is quite effective and without side effects.

Laser treatment
Laser treatment is used when the warts won’t stay away. The laser physically burns away the HPV-induced lesion. You will be locally sedated. The downsides that the healing process  takes time, you’ll have scars and the laser plume might have infected particles in it. This treatment doesn’t come cheap.

Electrodesiccation
This treatment uses an electric current to destroy the warts. You will again be sedated. The smoke that is released during this treatment might be infectious.

Excision
With excision the warts are cut away with a scalpel. This always happens with local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel any pain in the area around the ward. This treatment is only used on hardened wards because it leaves scars. After this form of surgery to area around your genitals will be sensitive for one to three weeks and you should not have sex until the area around the skin healed completely.

Know that most of these treatments take a long time to take effect and even when the warts are gone, you are still carry the HPV virus. Be aware that you can infect others. It is always best to use a condom for prevention, during sex. Also inform your sexual partner(s) about your infection and find ways together to protect your health in the future.
